1927 Historic Train Depot Tours Make for the Perfect Adventure

Venice Train Depot Tours

Venice wouldn’t be the city it is today if it weren’t for the town train depot. This structure was built in 1927, and it helped bring more people and industry to the area. Before that date, the town was significantly smaller. The building was renovated in 2002 and 2003, and it’s now open to the public. You can see the Venice Historic Train Depot by going to 303 E. Venice Ave.

It’s a great way to spend an afternoon. Whether you want to bring your whole family along or go by yourself, you will have the perfect opportunity to learn more about Venice before it became what it is today. After all, it’s always good to get in touch with your roots. Volunteer docents will show you around and can even provide a guided tour. That way, you’ll learn as much as you can about the old train depot.

When Should You Go?

This place isn’t open all the time, so make sure you check the hours before you go. The train depot is open year-round on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. The last guided tour starts at 12:30 p.m., so don’t be late. Then, in November through April, you have the chance to go to the train depot on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. If this is when you decide to go, just remember that the last docent-led tour begins at 2:30 p.m. Because of the hours this historical site is open, it’s a great way to spend an afternoon when the kids aren’t going to school because of the holidays.

What Should You Expect?

If you want to go on a docent-led tour, be sure to get there at the right time. You will meet in the main waiting room. You can even adjust how long you want your tour to be depending on what you want to see and how much you want to learn. Don’t forget: You can also go see the caboose. Don’t miss out on this exciting feature. You might be asked to give a donation to help support the cost to run the historical site, but it is not required.
