Forget cake by the ocean, art by the ocean is what’s happening this August. Visit Fishermen’s Village for the first ever Arts in August festival. You’ll find great art here, and when it’s hanging in your newly-spruced foyer, you’ll have a fond memory attached to it. Gone are the days when art shopping meant afternoons spent in dark, stuffy galleries. Let the salt air refresh your mind as you refresh your home décor scheme.
Arts in August
On Saturday, August 26, take a trip to Punta Gorda, Florida for the town’s first Arts in August festival. The event runs from noon until 4 p.m. Browse through original pieces of work by local artists and artisans. On the entertainment side, there will be live demonstrations of crafts like pottery, painting, painting, and fiber art. Stop by and visit the caricaturists and professional photographers, too. Admission is FREE along with parking. While this is the first year Arts in August is taking place, it will become an annual event, so look at for it next year as well.
Visual Arts Center
The event is sponsored and hosted by the Visual Arts Center in Punta Gorda. The center works to promote the arts through events, galleries, classes, and workshops. If you’re drawn to art, consider entering the 11th Biennial National Art Exhibition. It will be held in 2018 February 2 through March 20 in Punta Gorda. You can enter online for a chance to win a grab at more than $7,000 in prize money. Don’t procrastinate – art takes time, so get started crafting your chef d’oeuvre today.
It won’t be hard to spend all four hours engrossed in the art, demos, and sights at Arts in August. To make it better, the event is held in the Fishermen’s Village center, which is full of boutiques, restaurants, and shopping. Have lunch at the Village Fish Market or Scotty’s Brewhouse. If you just need a pick-me-up, peek into Island Life Yogurt. Or, take a walk down memory lane at The Good Ole Days Coffee and Ice Cream Shop. With a marina and resort also in the village, you could spend an entire day here. If you don’t have time to check out everything at Fishermen’s Village, make sure to return this fall for an afternoon of maritime merriness.
When you find a great piece of art, it’s hard to imagine your home without it once it’s installed. Oftentimes people don’t realize how empty a space looked until after it’s been filled.
Your driveway feels the same. You’ll never realize how much better it could’ve looked until it’s sporting a new Toyota from Venice Toyota. Our huge incentives, lightning-fast staff, and vast selection make car buying easy. Visit today, and see what you’re missing.
