Coined as one of the “happiest seaside towns in America,” you – like most others – choose to live in Venice, Florida, because you enjoy surrounding yourself with happy people and exciting venues. Looking for something to do at one of the great local venues this weekend? Give yourself – and your family – a taste of culture, art, and history with a trip to one of these exciting Venice-area museums!
The Ringling is home of one of the most well-known art and culture collections in the United States. The history behind this state art museum goes back nearly 100 years to a circus impresario and his wife who shared a love for Italy, Sarasota, and art. This incredible museum offers an opportunity for you to better understand and appreciate Asian history. Located at 5401 Bay Shore Road in Sarasota, it’s open every day of the week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.
Historic Spanish Point
If you consider yourself a history buff, the Historic Spanish Point is a venue you really need to add to your list of things to do. This is a uniquely complex museum with a lot of layers for you to explore. There are four main layers of the museum for you to check out, including the pre-history, pioneers, Palmer, and plants. You’re encouraged to plan your visit accordingly, as a quick visit won’t be enough to do the trip justice. You need time to let everything soak in.
Crowley Museum & Nature Center
The Crowley Museum & Nature Center offers an opportunity for you and your family to go back in time and experience “Old Florida.” Take a look at the pioneer history and artifacts as you navigate through the museum, blacksmith shop, pioneer cabin, and working sugarcane mill. There’s also a Children’s Discovery Path natural trail that will give your kids a more hands-on learning experience. You should also check the calendar on the website, as the museum and nature center frequently hosts events that are a lot of fun for the whole family.

Learn a Little About Vehicles, Too
The fun and learning don’t have to come to an end when you leave the museum for the day. Consider taking a trip to Venice Toyota to learn a little about the current Toyota vehicles on the market. You can also ask the members of the sales team for a little history on the Toyota brand. Then, head out for a test-drive in Venice, Florida.
