Tidewell Turkey Trot

Are you ready to get in better shape this holiday season? Just because you’re eating more than you usually do doesn’t mean you can’t take care of your health as well. When you choose to participate in the Tidewell Turkey Trot 5K, you don’t have to feel bad about sneaking a few extra cookies or some more stuffing.

This event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Lakewood Ranch Hospice House. You don’t have to worry if you’re not a runner. It is pet- and stroller-friendly, so even those who want to take it easy can feel free to participate. You can easily register online, and if you win, you are even eligible for prizes. But before the day of the event, you will need to prepare. Here’s how to get ready for this year’s Turkey Trot 5K.

Hit the Gym

Even if you only plan on walking, it’s a good idea to hit the gym before the day of the race. This will give you the confidence you need to complete the whole thing. Try to walk or run on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes to get yourself warmed up. If you go several times before the day of the event, you will be ready to do your best on the day of the race.

Get Some Rest

You will want to make sure you get a good night’s rest for at least two nights before the race. This will give you the extra strength you need to power through to the finish line. If you don’t get enough rest, you might feel sluggish or slow when it comes to running. Plus, getting to sleep early helps you stay hydrated, which will also help you do better in the race.

Hydrate Yourself

It is hard to do well in a race if you are even the least bit dehydrated, so do what you can to drink plenty of water in the week leading up to the race. Taking a refillable water bottle along with you everywhere you go will remind you to take a sip whenever you have a chance. But don’t drink too much right before the race. While you want to be hydrated, you don’t want to be so full of water that you don’t feel well.

Now you’re ready to participate in the 5K. Even with all that training, you won’t want to run everywhere you go, though. That’s why you need to come pick out a vehicle from Venice Toyota in Venice, Florida.
